While millions of Americans were engulfed in  what turned out to be the final game of an overrated World Series, practically bought but two of the largest payrolls in baseball.. a few friends and I sat with a dozen young man behind bars. One of them, 25.. on his last night in Cook County correctional facility.

18 months ago he was arrested for something he claimed he did not do and sat in Cook County Correctional Facility for 15 months before having his day in court. Luckily for him it wasn’t 12 years like another inmate, who has yet to have his case examined by the justice system.

We watched a sermon Mike Todd preached regarding still having value, that God and use your damage for His good. We prayed together and encouraged this young fella to use this as a testimony and take advantage of his freedom while also sharing what it’s really like on the inside to others who need guidance and mentorship.

If you’re wondering how in 2024 it’s possible to be innocent until proven guilty but be locked up for several months at best and often times, years before even before having your day in court.. you’re in good company along side hundreds of thousands of men and women not just in Cook County, but the entire United States who ask the same question every day.
