Love, the myth about Valentine's Day

The same people who through greed conceptualized colonialism & capitalism…converted Christmas from being about the birth of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ to buying presents.. also want you to accept that Valentine’s Day is about chocolate, sexy lingerie, jewelry and having someone specific to exchange such passing pleasures with.

Valentine’s Day is about Love and for me the ultimate act of love was God giving his only Son as a sacrifice for our sins that we are born into because of the mistakes of our forefathers. John 3:16

Being single doesn’t mean you’re alone. James chapter 4 says draw near to him and he will draw near to you. Hebrews 13:5 says “be content with what you have and stay free from the love of money, I will never leave nor abandon you”. In 1 Corinthians, Paul suggests its better for a man to be as he is..single. Later in his letter, he reminds us that an unmarried man or woman has only the concern of pleasing God, not their spouse. So take joy in the state God has for you at this present time and aim to please Him.

Love is universal and available for all, not just a spouse. Colossians 3:12-14 says to present yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience - bearing with each other in forgiveness as Christ forgave us. And above all these things put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

As with virtually every other struggle in the world, living in it but not being of it. Don’t fall into the devil’s scheme to trick you into feeling alone or believing you’re unloved.

Whether you’re happily married or are experiencing turbulence, single and searching or single and secure, I encourage you to seek ye first the kingdom of God in all things including your relationships and choose to celebrate love within its God intended purpose.

Acknowledge His love for you and be more like him in your sharing love to others. Take comfort in knowing God knows us and know everything about us, also that he does not make mistakes. If you’re single, embrace what he has given you and where you are today giving thanks. Rejoice in the Lord Always, again I say rejoice! Philippians 4:4

The reason everyone accepts the universal symbol for love as the heart is because we literally can’t live without either of them. God demonstrates His love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
