I’m a Believer and follower of Christ. My parents, pictured below raised me to love everyone as He loved us.
The past three and a half years has proven to be a character building exercise! One which required many hours contemplating the hundreds of “Why Me’s” yet also counting the “Thank God’s”. Going from being a fully functioning adult, with a good career and the ability to travel about the world at will to living with your parents isn’t exactly something many folks would be proud of. I am however, happy and humbled to share the blessing of supportive and loving parents, capable of providing much more than shelter during dire times. Now, being ever grateful to emerge from the turbulent cocoon of struggle a new man; physically, mentally, and spiritually.
July 2018, after returning to Chicago from over four months of continuous travel through Europe and Africa, I fell ill with a blood clot. By November of that year my condition had worsened to barely walking along with a host of other painful symptoms.
Officially diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis and Chronic Kidney Disease, life as I once knew it was over. Since then I’ve undergone a Kidney Transplant, many subsequent procedures, exams, blood draws, and even two rounds of chemo therapy while tossing down handfuls of medicine multiple times a day.
Certainly not always with a smile as I would want you to believe, but always with a notion of gratitude for how bad things could be. There are many faucets to my life but for now, I focus on and share my health journey as encouragement to others facing seemingly insurmountable challenges, health related or otherwise.
It is purely by the grace of God, I am here to day, as you know me.
I’m a work hard, play harder, take nothing for granted, fun loving, easy going guy with lots of energy. Making friends has never been a problem for me, yet I can’t seem to keep a girlfriend 🤷🏾♂️. Perhaps it’s because I worked too hard in my 20’s and traveled too much into my 30’s but where I stand is with amazing friendships all across the globe 🌎. I’ve had a great life and I wouldn’t change a thing. Even amid the years of health turbulence, I’m blessed beyond comprehension 🙏🏾.
